As 2016 nears its end I wanted to write a post of lessons and changes I learned to make over the last 12 months.
As you can see, (or maybe you are visiting for the first time!) I've brought back my former website!
I decided to give Pattern a try for "webhosting" for a few months and found it was a disaster. Not only was I not able to share important content such as my bio, gallery, and events, I was unable to really connect with my clients on any personal level. While the pattern site was clean and looked nice, it was essentially a jacked up Etsy store and I found it to be pretty impersonal.
I also discovered that most of my online shoppers prefer to use Etsy over a private website to make purchases, and as a result - I will only be selling online through Etsy - HOWEVER you can still contact me for private orders paid via PayPal or picked up in person, as always I'm flexible on orders!
I didn't have many shows this fall, mostly due to a business deal gone bad. I was supposed to have a spot at a farmers market for 6 months to a year. But after the manager was fired, and no one notified me, my file was just forgotten, and when I enquired, the rates were suddenly doubled.
So with that behind me I propelled forward putting more work into my online presence.
From that also stemmed the birth of my YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT_PBkJeEQlbjfWWNKbKnHQ ) where I’ve begun to film the process of making jewellery!
These videos aren’t instructional at this time, but more just to show the process of what I do to make pieces of jewellery.
2016 marks the year I got into polymer clay as a jewellery medium – my roommate Jace makes polymer clay sculptures and after conducting a bit of research I wanted to give it a try.
It’s pretty much all I want to do now – with the possibilities being nearly endless.
This year I also threw caution to the wind and decided that my inner spiritual weirdo can finally come out not baring fear of judgement from my peers.
I’ve worked very hard on my personal growth above all this year, and I’ve never felt more like myself.
So what’s in store for 2017?
At this point I’ve completely lost my train of thought so I’ll just end this here!
Happy Holidays to all, near and far, and all the best in 2017!
May we all be happy, healthy, and prosperous in the New Year!
